On June 17th, Italian eyewear brand Persol hosted Tribeca Festival’s 2021 Awards Ceremony celebrating the Festival’s best talent and creative work where the brand presented its inaugural award for Best Actor in a US Narrative Feature at Spring Studios’ Rooftop in New York City. The honor was given to Matt Leone for his performance in God’s Waiting Room.

Notable guests among actors, filmmakers, and directors came out to celebrate including Adrien Brody, Sharon Stone, Chase Sui Wonders, Ajani Russel, Hari Nef, Bryan Cranston, Justin Bartha, Del Roy Lindo, Nana Mensah, and more.

As previously reported by MR, this year’s official eyewear partner, the brand launched a limited-edition style designed exclusively for Tribeca Festival’s 20th anniversary to commemorate the partnership, perfectly illustrating the brand’s DNA which is deeply rooted in cinematic history. The PO9649S model comes in an exclusive Persol x Tribeca Festival box and wrapping and will be available in the brand’s Nolita NYC and Beverly Hills retail stores, as well as on Persol.com in limited quantities. The translucent design retails for $261. This style has the same unique pilot shape as the classic 649 but with a slimmer profile. The reinterpretation is particularly suited to both men and women for its lighter, thinner execution.

Just as cinema was entering its first Golden Age, Persol sunglasses went on to play a lead role in some of the most internationally legendary films. From Marcello Mastroianni in La Dolce Vita and Divorce Italian and Steve McQueen in The Thomas Crown Affair and The Gateway to Jude Law in The Talented Mr. Ripley and Bradley Cooper in A Star is Born, and many more.
