POLO RALPH LAUREN INTRODUCES TOKYO STADIUM COLLECTION
Polo Ralph Lauren has introduced a new limited-edition capsule in partnership with HIRO, founder of LDH JAPAN and original leader of Japanese boy band EXILE.
Called “Tokyo Stadium,” the range reinvents the original Polo Stadium collection with a Japanese pop-culture sensibility. Drawing inspiration from the ‘90s dance scene in Tokyo, the sporty spirit of the 1992 Olympic Summer Games that inspired the original Stadium collection, now integrates Japanese symbols, silhouettes, and bold colors.
Featuring unisex apparel and accessories, Tokyo Stadium consists of Stadium collection staples, such as the coveted tank top, shorts, tear-away pant, anorak, utility vest, and a five-panel cap, all updated in vibrant new colorways. Other prominent pieces include a full zip outerwear jacket, a polo shirt, sneakers, and a hoodie. Waist packs, multi-pouch bags, wrist bands, totes, socks, and a bucket hat round out the collection with the same mix of Japanese-influenced aesthetics and signature Stadium motifs.
The collection’s advertising campaign was shot in Tokyo and features members of EXILE including AKIRA – the current leader of the band – who has a longstanding relationship with Ralph Lauren having modeled and been a brand ambassador. Shot by all local Tokyo talent including photographer Taro Mizutani, video director Yusuke Ishida, and creative director Yoshirotten, the highly visual collection is juxtaposed against iconic Tokyo backdrops – first, in a tranquil traditional Japanese garden and then against the sprawling city skyline filled with neon lights and exuding the high energy nightlife in which the city is known.
Tokyo Stadium will be available on Thursday, October 21st on The Polo App in the U.S. and U.K., in select Ralph Lauren stores globally, as well as exclusively at GOAT in the U.S. and U.K., and LDH specialty store in Japan.
