The first edition of Project Tokyo was held at the Tokyo International Forum on March 26th and 27th where 270 leading designers and advanced contemporary brands showcased their products from around the world, including multiple brands from the U.S., France, and Italy. Over 60 of those brands exposed their collection in Japan for the first time.

“We made sure to bring buyers from all regions of Japan, not just the big department stores and boutiques based in Tokyo,” said Hayato Ishihara, director of the event. “We brought buyers from Europe and the USA, as well as focusing on East Asia – China, Korea, and Taiwan as we position Project Tokyo as a gateway to the Asian markets.”

“As a completely new fashion label to Japan, we were embraced by the organizers who helped with all the useful and necessary information about the market and the business etiquette,” added Dominika Budny, designer of a Holland-based brand Wardrobe. “That proved priceless. Project Tokyo also offers a unique matchmaking concept, which can be very useful to start building valuable business relationships. All in all, we are happy with our participation and are looking forward to continuing our business journey in Japan.”

With the success of the first edition, the event organizer Informa plc., has announced that the next edition will take place September 25th and 26th at Shibuya Hikarie Halls, well known for the famous Shibuya crossing – the heart of fashion in Tokyo.
