RALPH LAUREN LAUNCHES POLO DESIGN CONTEST TO RAISE MONEY FOR COVID-19 RELIEF
As the Coronavirus continues to wreak havoc across the globe and most people are still facing quarantining and social distancing mandates, Ralph Lauren is looking to engage with its community in a meaningful way, inspire creativity, and raise money for those in need by launching the “Polo Project: Design for Good” contest to benefit COVID-19 relief funds.
Kicking off on May 13th via Ralph Lauren’s social and digital channels as well as the Polo App, the first-ever Polo shirt design contest is a chance for a fan’s unique vision to become the next iconic Polo print, with 100 percent of the purchase price going to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, a global effort supporting countries to prevent, detect, and respond to the pandemic.
Since it became an instant style icon when it launched in 1972, the Polo shirt has been reimagined countless times, serving as the ultimate blank canvas for decades of creativity and used as a global symbol to help raise millions of dollars for philanthropic and social impact, including funding breast cancer research and care through the Pink Pony Fund, raising funds for global disaster relief, and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community. Now, the brand is leaning into the Polo Shirt once more to be inspired for another great cause.
Ten finalists will be chosen by our men’s and women’s design teams and unveiled on The Polo App (U.S. and U.K.) on June 1st. The winner will be chosen by popular vote on the app and will receive a Ralph Lauren gift card valued at $500—plus the knowledge that they have created a shirt that truly makes a difference. The winning design, which will be announced on Tuesday, June 16th, will also have the chance to be sold on RalphLauren.com and The Polo App.
