SANTONI OPENS ITS LARGEST FLAGSHIP STORE IN THE WORLD IN NEW YORK
Santoni has announced a new 4,000 sqft boutique at 667 Madison Avenue in the heart of New York City. The design was conceived by architect Patricia Urquiola. The Space is defined by an architectural concept that draws inspiration from the Chrysler Building and its iconic geometric shapes.
“Opening our new flagship in New York, right on our 50th anniversary, is an extraordinary milestone. It was here, in 1997, that we opened our first boutique, marking the beginning of a story of innovation and growth. Today, our journey extends far beyond men’s footwear, strongly embracing the women’s and accessories segments. An evolution that made a larger space necessary, one capable of embodying our vision and offering the customer not just a place to shop, but a true experience, an authentic encounter with our universe,” said President Giuseppe Santoni.
The skyscraper’s distinctive triangular windows translate into a design that is in keeping with Urquiola’s concept for Santoni, where the interior architecture is expressed through a composition of geometries: first is the tangram theme, which can be recognized through various details and patterns, and finishes. The boutique’s color palette has been curated to create a welcoming and warm ambiance, pairing shades of orange, terracotta, and rose with champagne brass details.
The boutique is spread across two levels: with its backlit metal grid ceiling that stands at an impressive six meters high, the ground floor feels light and airy, surrounded by three-dimensional paneled walls that create a unifying sense of visual rhythm. Fine Italian marble, including onyx and travertine, are the protagonists of the consoles, shelves, and partitions, lending elegance and sophistication to the space. In the display areas, footwear, small leather good,s and accessories alternate with soft, embracing sofas and armchairs that contrast starkly with the rigorous lines of the surrounding structural forms.
The NYC Santoni boutique showcases a special design on its lower level, not just a landmark for luxury shopping but an immersive experience that celebrates Italian craftsmanship, innovation, and the link between art and architecture. Accessible by a side staircase, the space has been designed to feel like you are stepping into a lounge, bathed in the warm glow of mirrors, creating a striking game of reflections. The Bespoke Santoni area is nestled here, where truly exclusive shopping experiences transpire. A section of this level is also reserved for the artisanal workshop: a long Rosso Verona marble surface serves as a workbench for one of Santoni’s shoemakers, who can repair, polish, and resole customers’ shoes.
Santoni will unveil a dedicated capsule collection featuring men’s and women’s accessories for the space. The Carter wholecut, the Vanguard briefcase, the Marta slingback and a classic belt – Santoni icons – highlight the elegant designs and impeccable quality intrinsic to the Maison. The men’s styles appear in vibrant hand-painted brown leather with color options that customers can customize with the guidance of Santoni artisans, while the Marta slingback is imagined in calfskin leather in silver color with the signature ton-sur-ton maxi buckle covered in crystals. The boutique opened its doors to the public on March 13th.
