THE SECRET IS OUT! BRUCE SCHEDLER’S ROLE TO CHANGE AT CHICAGO COLLECTIVE

by Karen Alberg Grossman

The rumor is true: Bruce Schedler is, in fact, changing his role at the Chicago Collective.

Officially retiring on March 1 from his current position as VP Apparel Trade Shows, TheMart has asked him to stay on as an advisor for the foreseeable future. He will still be very involved with the men’s show, less so with the women’s and bridal shows. He thought it would be best to let people know at the recent Chicago Collective, so that Danielle and Monique could begin to transition earlier rather than later.

In his own words: “After the pandemic, I took a hard look at time past and future and knew then that I would go on with the show for only a few more years. We only get one shot and an undetermined amount of time on this big blue planet. Aside from working, I want to see what else is out there for me.

“Spending more time with my close friends and family (including two young grandkids) will be amazing. (#2, Elena Rose Black, arrived just a week ago!) I also want to explore some new ideas and take care of things that I’ve been putting off for many years.

“I will miss the people at the Mart, and of course, all the people who have helped me on this incredible almost 27-year journey. (It was great to get the MR award last summer so that I could thank people personally at the event.) I will especially miss Monique Kielar, who has been with me for almost 20 years. She was and remains a huge part of the show’s success. And I will greatly miss Danielle Owen. The show simply would not be what it is today without her by my side. She is truly that amazing.”

Bruce will be at the August show for sure, so reserve your place in line for hugs and well wishes.
