What Effect Does Custom Packaging Have On Retail Sales?

Custom-designed packaging can drive repeat purchases, according to January 2016 research. In fact, more than half of US digital buyers believe it makes a product more valuable. Shorr Packaging polled 422 digital buyers ages 18 and older and asked them about their preferences regarding custom packaging, and how shopping frequency and spending affects these preferences. More than half of US digital buyers said they believed specially printed or customized branded packaging makes a product more valuable. Many buyers also said they would purchase from a retailer again based on custom-designed packaging. And, the more digital buyers spend, the likelier they would repeat a purchase. For example, 44% of digital buyers who spend more than $201 on average a month said they would purchase from a retailer again based on customized packaging, suggesting this feature appeals to more affluent shoppers.   1. I’ve never really understood the importance of custom packaging. It wasn’t until this article that I realized how valuable it is. That study they did on the packaging was really interesting. Now that I think about it, I do purchase things based off how it was packaged.
