WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE FIRST EDITION OF ‘ONE MAGIC’ AT THE CONVENTION CENTER

by Stephen Garner

The debut edition of ONE MAGIC will kick off on Monday, seeing the combination of all of the Informa-owned fashion trade shows under one roof at the Las Vegas Convention Center. From Monday, August 12th through Wednesday, August 14th, over 700 men’s brands across the marketplace including Project, The Tents and MAGIC Mens will be presenting their spring/summer 2020 collections, including 150 new exhibitors over the span of three days.

Making its inaugural appearance since the recently announced initiative and ongoing partnership with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), the CFDA x Project initiative will host a hand-selected group of menswear designers in Las Vegas that will live within the Project N:OW community in the newly created section called N:OW Lab, a concept space that will rotate and evolve each season. Designed to showcase creativity, diversity, and highlight new perspectives, the area is intended to challenge the status quo, inspire positivity and spark innovation. Designers and brands showing in N:OW Lab include Kenneth Nicholson, NIHL, Sánchez-Kane, Victor Li, and Willy Chavarria.

Project N:OW, a curated area featuring culturally-relevant brands that best reflects what is happening now in the marketplace, further expands its programming offering since its debut earlier this year. A gathering place for like-minded brands including Bristol Studios, Champion, Chinatown Market, Carrots By Anwar Carrots, Surf is Dead, Ovadia & Sons, Slushcult, Dumbgood, and Marine Layer, N:OW offers a full schedule of forums, panels, daily happenings, and exclusive events that set the stage for contemporary men’s fashion. The daily presentations and panel discussions will feature some of the most respected and acknowledged voices in the industry that include Jeff Carvalho, Milan Vukmirovic, Willy Chavarria, Bárbara Sánchez-Kane, Neil Grotzinger, Rachael Dimit, Jon Buscemi, and more.

Project Las Vegas will also mark the debut of a new brand showcase from its sister show Project Tokyo within the N:OW neighborhood where Japanese fashion will be introduced in an unconventional way. Attendees will have the chance to meet some of Japan’s most influential designers who are new to the U.S fashion scene and are pushing the envelope of design and style through a mix of youth-driven aesthetic and progressive denim/workwear. Featured Designers include BONUM, Flutten, Graph Zero, Onemade, and SurReal.

Complimenting the changes on the show floor, the Las Vegas edition boasts a new and enhanced MAGIC mobile app that will enable buyers to seamlessly navigate the new venue, locate relevant brands or products across all shows and include a convenient digital concierge service. Other features, such as matchmaking and expedited event entry complete the full complement of service enhancement customers can expect within the all-new mobile solution. You can download the app on Android and IOS, or access the landing page: https://app.ubmfashion.com.

“With our one campus strategy for Las Vegas, it further strengthens our mission to curate a space where we assimilate innovative minds together to open dialogues for the industry to collaborate in ways that celebrate inclusivity and diversity,” said Lizette Chin, president of men’s. “The reformation of this new floorplan, added technology, and extended programming in Las Vegas is a large undertaking and we couldn’t be prouder of our team for making this happen.”
