ASOS AND MTV COLLABORATE ON 80S-INSPIRED COLLECTIONS
International online retailer Asos and MTV have announced a limited-edition collection of 1980s-inspired clothing and accessories for both women and men. The collection, which will be available on Asos.com beginning Friday, June 23, will retail from $8 to $95.
MTV shared archived artworks and logos with the Asos design team and, working closely together, the two teams created an 80s-inspired mood board that evolved into statement menswear and womenswear collections. The graphic-led range captures the decade’s rebellious spirit with apparel such as men’s jackets, decorated denim, neon-colored accessories, high-top sneakers and socks.
“As MTV began in the 80s, we thought this would be a great era to draw from, inspired by this time of incredible change in both music and pop culture,” said Sian Ryan, head of design for Asos.
Added Ron Johnson, executive vice president of consumer products at Viacom International Media Network: “This partnership is a sartorial celebration of youth, which is a shared inspiration for both MTV and Asos. We can’t wait for our fans to get their hands on the collection and make it their own.”
To tie in with the launch of this collection, Asos has produced “Pimp My Tracksuit,” a spoof version of the classic “Pimp My Ride” series, which will go live on Asos’ Facebook page on June 23.
