BLDWN CELEBRATES GRAND OPENING OF ITS NEW LOS ANGELES FLAGSHIP

BLDWN celebrated the grand opening of its new Los Angeles flagship boutique as well as the launch of its “AMERICANis” project on Wednesday night. The brand held a party at the new flagship, located at 8424 Melrose Place, with a dinner following at a.o.c.

In addition to enjoying cocktails, guests had the option of receiving a tattoo from Los Angeles-based artist Cori Maass during the event.

VIPs were in attendance including TV personalities Catt Sadler and George Kotsiopoulos; reality TV star Whitney Port; actresses Jordana Brewster, Georgie Flores, and Sophia Bush; celebrity stylists Anita Patrickson, Micah Schifman, and Chris Horan; architect David Montalba; and author Melissa Magsaysay.

The modern American fashion brand’s new “AMERICANis” project poses the question of what it means to be American.

For many, there are strong pre-conceived notions and associations with the word “American” – for some, it’s baseball, apple pie, coca-cola or John Wayne. BLDWN is challenging us to look at “American” through a different lens – one where iconic American designers, artists, and musicians – such as Wright, Warhol, Basquiat, O’Keefe, and Fitzgerald – come to mind.

Inspired by this concept, the brand tapped a diverse group of creatives and simply had them answer the question, “American is ___?” The responses were as unique and beautiful as each participant in the campaign.

The first iteration of participants includes John Edelman of Design Within Reach, menswear expert Nick Wooster, photographer Sophie Elgort, celebrity stylist Anita Patrickson, eyewear designer Garrett Leight, founder of NYFW Fern Mallis, celebrity stylist Erin Walsh, author Melissa Magsaysay, model Langley Fox Hemingway, and more.

“AMERICANis” is an ongoing project that will continue to grow and expand for seasons to come. In celebration, the brand has created limited-edition “AMERICANis” tee shirts ($98) designed in collaboration with LA-based artist Cori Maass which are now available for purchase at BLDWN.co.
