BRITISH FASHION COUNCIL ANNOUNCES 2017 NOMINEES OF THE FASHION AWARDS

On Monday, October 23, Dame Natalie Massenet, chairman of the British Fashion Council (BFC), Nadja Swarovski, Member of the Swarovski Executive Board and Caroline Rush, chief executive of the British Fashion Council announced the nominations for The Fashion Awards 2017 in partnership with Swarovski at a press screening at Soho House in London.

The Fashion Awards in partnership with Swarovski recognize creativity and innovation in fashion, celebrating exceptional individuals whose imagination and creativity have broken new ground in fashion globally over the past 12 months as well as brands and businesses that have transformed the possibilities of fashion today.

Christopher Bailey MBE for Burberry, Craig Green, Grace Wales Bonner, JW Anderson, and Martine Rose are up for British Menswear Designer of the Year. Meanwhile, Christopher Kane, Erdem, JW Anderson, Roksanda, and Sarah Burton OBE for Alexander McQueen are nominated for the British Womenswear Designer of the Year.

Cottweiler, Charles Jeffrey Loverboy, House of Holland, Phoebe English Man, and A-Cold-Wall* are up for the British Emerging Talent in Menswear award. And, Fenty Puma by Rihanna, Gosha Rubchinskiy, Off-White, Supreme, and Vetements are up for the Urban Luxe Brand.

Additionally,

Adrian Joffe for Dover Street Market, Guram Gvasalia for Vetements, José Neves for Farfetch, Marco Bizzarri for Gucci, and Ruth & Tom Chapman for Matchesfashion.com are up for Business Leader of the Year. And, Alessandro Michele for Gucci, Jonathan Anderson for Loewe, Maria Grazia Chiuri for Dior, Phoebe Philo for Céline, and Raf Simons for Calvin Klein will battle it out for Designer of the Year.

Additional awards will be celebrated on the night, recognizing incredible career milestones for individuals. The recipients of these special awards will be announced in November.

The Fashion Awards 2017 winners will be announced at a gala ceremony held at the iconic Royal Albert Hall in London, attended by 4,000 industry members and invitees on Monday, December 4. The event raises money to nurture future generations of fashion talent. The BFC Education Foundation is the charitable partner to The Fashion Awards 2017 in partnership with Swarovski and offers scholarships to talented young people to study at the best universities as well as opportunities to fund apprenticeships to develop much-needed industry skills.
