RED BALL JETS TAPS INTO NEW YORK CITY VIBE AND TALENT FOR LATEST CAMPAIGN

by John Russel Jones

Red Ball Jets celebrates its new RBJ ’51 LO style with a Back-to-School inspired campaign that is an ode to New York City. The campaign, which features local NYC creatives and talent both behind and in front of the camera, was shot at the beloved Lindenwood Diner, recently voted “Best Diner in NYC ” by the New York Times. The campaign introduces the new RBJ ’51 LO to the brand’s lineup and fuses the 1950s Americana roots of the brand with the fresh, modern energy of New York.

The inspiration for the shoot leaned into the familiar tropes of iconic coming-of-age stories like “The Breakfast Club,” “School Daze,” “West Side Story” and “Euphoria.” From the high school heartbreaker to the skater boy to the girl next door, the ’51 LO canvas fits every role. The canvas and vulcanized rubber sneakers retail for $75.

Red Ball Jets was first founded in 1951 but the company’s doors closed in the 1970s. The brand re-emerged earlier this year with sneakers reimagined with modern new touches and streetwear influences while remaining rooted in classic nostalgia. Like the Lindenwood Diner, still enjoyed to this day, Red Ball Jets aims to be a sneaker that is loved by generations to come.

This campaign features the work of local New York talent including stylist and creative director Jazmine Bowen, photographer Kameron White, assistant photographer Shay Waugh, make-up artist Briana Black, and models David Bennett, Alicia Drayton, Myka Owens, Molly Omeria, and Jaylen Anderson.
