Suriel Signs On at Charles G. Bailey
NEW YORK – Nelson Suriel has joined Charles G. Bailey, the new designer collection being offered by Ben and Isaac Greszes, as president of sales, a new post.
The collection was introduced in a limited number of stores for fall and a full roll-out is expected for spring.
Suriel has been vice president of sales at the David Chu and LINCS by DC & Company divisions of DC Design International. Prior to that, he spent 15 years at Tallia in a variety of sales posts.
At Charles G. Bailey, Suriel reports to Ben and Isaac Greszes, co-presidents of the company.
Suriel said that Charles G. Bailey was sold to a select number of better specialty stores during its soft launch for fall but for spring will be targeted to about 100 top accounts, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and members of the Forum group.
The new collection emphasizes woven sport shirts but also includes knits, sweaters and some tailored clothing and dress furnishings as well. All products are being manufactured in Italy. Retail price points on wovens are expected to fall in the $165 to $245 range.
“Tailored clothing is quite difficult, as we all know,” Suriel told MRketplace.com. “It’s the more expensive luxury sportswear that the market is moving to and where stores are now excelling. Even when we do nested clothing, we will do it very young and very directional.”
Charles G. Bailey will be shown at The Collective and again at the MAGIC Marketplace. It’s also available in the company’s offices on the 17th floor of 1450 Broadway here.
Isaac Greszes serves as design director of the new collection.
Phone calls to DC Design International weren’t returned, but it is understood that David Schuster has been named to succeed Suriel as sales head for David Chu and LINCS.
