The CFDA Toasts Public School, 2014 Woolmark Prize Winners
The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and the Woolmark Company hosted an event celebrating last year’s International Woolmark Prize winners Public School and M.Patmos and introducing this year’s U.S. nominees at NeueHouse in Manhattan’s Flatiron District this week.
“Many fashion prizes are based on hype and marketing but the International Woolmark Prize is truly based on creativity and talent,” said CFDA CEO Steven Kolb.
“The Woolmark Company is proud to toast this year’s USA nominees,” added Michelle Lee, director of the Americas for Woolmark. “They are an incredibly talented group. The stakes are especially high with Public School’s and M.Patmos’ 2014/15 wins. We look forward to the event on July 21st.”
The nominees for menswear this year are, as we reported in April, Cadet, David Hart, Lucio Castro, Siki Im and Thaddeus O’Neil.
The women’s wear nominees are Chris Gelinas, Kaelen, Nellie Partow, Novis and Tanya Taylor.
These are the U.S. regional prize nominees — Woolmark also gives prizes in five other regions: Europe; British Isles; India/Middle East; Australia; and Asia. The winners from each of the six regions will meet at Pitti Uomo in Florence in January 2016, where an international winner will be chosen.
