[metaslider id=”147441″] Last week’s The Headwear Association (THA) dinner at the Central Park Boathouse was a particularly special affair: not only was it the 110th anniversary of this amazing industry association but it was also a glorious spring evening in Central Park, hopefully portending many more to come.

In addition to helping members sell lots of beautiful hats and “promoting friendship and fraternity in the hat trade”, THA also promotes skin cancer awareness, distributes hats to those in need, and provides scholarships to deserving design students.

Art Pottash with Artex Knitting Mills was the 2018 Rosenthal Award Winner, named for Ben Rosenthal, this award recognizes years of commitment and service in the headwear industry. Levine Hat Co. was named 2018 Retailer of the Year, and Lee, an FIT student, won the Headwear Association Scholarship, which was made possible by a generous donation of $100,000 from S.H. Baik of Young An Hat Co. towards a scholarship for aspiring designers in the millinery field. The scholarship has been established as an endowed scholarship award fund with a pledge of $100,000 it will be awarded in perpetuity using the interest earned on the gift.
